Kellie Newstead
Senior Facilitator & Studio Manager
If you want to fly, let go of everything that weighs you down – Buddha
Kel Newstead was born in the country, moved to the city, travelled broadly and then landed back in Adelaide. She has tried many things, but nothing has hit home quite like yoga. Her practice started over ten years ago but only became a regular part of her daily life in the last two years. In 2016, Kel jumped into the 200HR teacher training with Power Living. She is currently working towards her 500 HR qualification.
Initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits, the journey has evolved to self and universal love with a renewed focus on traditional and physical teachings. She is an avid traveller, a dedicated student, a recovering perfectionist, liturgical dancer and wild brumby at heart. She feels blessed to be part of the Power Living Adelaide Studio community and to share the benefits of yoga.
In 2017, she left the media-advertising scene to dedicate her time and energy to teaching and living yoga. She teaches with playfulness, honesty, intensity and nurture so that students have the freedom to explore who they are. The strength, softening, heat, fun and ongoing opportunities for growth drive her practice and teaching at Power Living.
What sound do you love?
Birds on a crisp morning, waves on a warm afternoon, crickets under the stars.
When you are not extending, bending and sweating what do you like to do?
Hike, pat dogs, pat cats, sing loudly, dance, draw, nap, eat breakfast, hang with friends and family, drink tea, look at flowers, surf, run, read and make lists.
If you could share a meal and a conversation with anyone dead or alive who would that be?
My husband.
