I began practicing yoga as a child when my mother bought me a book called A Child’s Garden of Yoga by Baba Hari Dass. The book introduced me to bhandas, some simple pranayama followed by a couple of guided meditations both of which I voice recorded on cassette (yes!) and would listen back to. I remember back then meditating was so easy and made me feel so peaceful. The next chapter introduced asana for children which included pages upon pages of pictured poses with the name of the pose and cues on how to enter the pose. I would regularly flick through and practice various postures. From that young age I felt such strong connection with my practice, a connection which has remained and continued to grow and evolve with me throughout the many stages of my life. I made a strong connection with Ashtanga in my mid 20’s when I lived in London. It was on a 3 month sabbatical in Thailand, on an Ashtanga yoga retreat on the island of Koh Phangnan, that I connected with a calling to become a teacher. At that point I felt an overwhelming sense of connectedness to something greater, dedication and passion for my practice all of which lead me on this wonderful journey of self discovery which I yearned to share with others.
I trained with Power Living Fitzroy completing 200hr in 2015 and have begun my pathway to 500hrs completing Advanced Vinyasa Teacher Training: Progressive Asana (45hr) with Duncan Peak and Cassie Lee in 2016 – also in Fitzroy. I have a passion for intelligent yet creative sequencing with an anatomical focus. My classes are creative, vibrant and strong in an effort to allow students to leave feeling empowered. I believe that by pushing ourselves physically we start to shed exterior layers which enable us to make space for the opportunity of self enquiry. With new knowledge we are able to continually move forward. Yoga teaches us how to be the best version of who we already, leaving us empowered and, in turn, able to inspire the people around us to do the same.

I love the sound of heavy rain drops as they make their way down to earth from above.
