The Ties That Bind – A Myofascial Release Training

Introduction

This training is an in-depth journey into the anatomy of fascia; what it is made of, how it behaves, reacts and responds to movement, stillness and stimulus.

Through lectures, discussions, practices and hands-on learning, we will traverse the myofascial trains and large muscle groups and using balls, rollers and blocks. We will explore how to effectively manipulate this tissue for better movement, mobility and overall health.

Different to a yin training, The Ties That Bind uses both Vinyasa and Roll & Release techniques to explore fascial trains.

This 30hr course counts towards the Power Living 500hr Certification, for 200hr TT graduates.

Differentiating the layers of Fascia and their various functions
Fascial Trains: How fascia connects and supports every system in the body

Myofascial Release: Tools and Techniques

Practice and workshopping of bandha, muscle groups and types of contraction
Muscle groups, muscle shapes and muscle group functions

Practical Applications

Learn how to integrate the Myofascial Release practice into your daily movement regimen.

About the Course

This training will be held at our Adelaide City Studio. It is also available to join via livestream, with all sessions broadcast live and available on-demand for 6 weeks afterwards, to complete the course. All participants will have access to view the lectures and practices via our online platform, and to join the community discussion groups on there too.

Materials:
– 1 Pair of MFR Tune Up Balls
– 1 Roller
– 2 Yoga Blocks

Daily Outline:

  • 90-minute Vinyasa / MFR / Roll & Release practice with workshops and feedback.
  • Lectures and exploration and applications of MFR techniques through the lens of the FascialTrains.
  • Includes a morning tea and lunch break

Throughout the weekdays students will be given a private study component including:

– Daily MFR home practice

– Journal prompts tracking the effects of the practice

– Assigned reading on Anatomy and MFR

Homework is to be submitted by the end of the course, if you wish it to be marked by the teaching team.

This 30hr course is open to all yoga practitioners. RYTS are eligible to receive 30hrs towards their 500hr Certification with Yoga Alliance.

About the facilitator

One of the first things that people recognize of Adam Whiting (eRYT-500, YACEP, 1 Giant Mind Certified Meditation Teacher) is his laugh. Students say that they can hear it rolling down the street as they approach the studio to practice one of his classes. His smile is generous and immediate and his passion for yoga is contagious. Adam leads classes, workshops and trainings that are full of anatomical precision, intelligent sequencing, and potent philosophy. He has practiced and trained in various styles of yoga, including Tantra, Ashtanga, Anusara and Vinyasa. His musical training is integrated throughout his teachings in spirited kirtans and soft serenades in savasana. Adam has spent the last decade teaching classes, workshops and leading retreats and trainings throughout the United States, Australia and Asia. He now resides in Adelaide, Australia where he teaches at Power Living Adelaide.
